CEO Speaks 7.29.2023

Happy Saturday and welcome to CEO Speaks for Saturday, July 29, 2023.

Being a part of something bigger through TMA speaks to the optionality of all that TMA has to offer, always lighting the way forward as we raise the bar higher on member value everywhere you look in TMA Nation.

While summertime may be a slow time for some, at TMA it is a time of grandeur when we celebrate great regional opportunities and even one global opportunity too.

Yesterday, here in Chicago, TMA Global hosted its NextGen Leadership Conference in Chicago, IL, bringing together over 100 NextGen members from 18 chapters, a testament to the growing strength of our NextGen community and how they will positively impact the future of TMA.

Led by NextGen co-chairs Pat Bellot and Taurat Hossain, this conference offered mentoring, learning, and inspiration in practical ways.

Starting with a TMA Bootcamp, now part of all global conference experiences, attendees were treated to the vast and practical skills of a Certified Turnaround Professional (CTP), in a day taught by Certification Oversight Committee President Michael Von Lehman, CTP Certification Oversight Committee Chair and TMA Global VP of Education Brian Gleason, CTP and Attorney Instructors, Rachael Mauceri and Candice Kline and a special guest appearance by Judge Mary Jo Heston.

The conference experience itself offered advice on in-person business development and networking, pitching deals, and had an inspirational keynote presentation from former Top Gun fighter pilot Patrick Houlihan.

This kind of programming, like our organization, is real and relevant and stands for how we distinguish ourselves as a stand-out organization in the corporate restructuring, reorganization, and corporate health space, by assuring we join practice with the practical and takeaways our members can put into their toolbox and apply.

Speaking of optionality, it wouldn’t be summer at TMA if summer did not include the TMA Summer Extravaganza hosted by the TMA SoCal and NorCal chapters.  This two-day event, billed as pure, hardcore networking, is exactly that and done at its finest.

Event Co-Chairs Kevin Otus and Liz Gonzalez, along with a committee of chapter volunteers, brought together nearly 150 TMA members from all over TMA Nation, a grand display of what it means to be that one connection that makes us so many connections strong.  A time to celebrate the power of connectivity held in Santa Barbra, CA, this event is always a feel-good two days that show the best of who we are as we share in making connections, spending time with friends, and reinforcing the importance of networking in a truly special way.

August likewise brings the uniqueness of TMA optionality to the forefront with two different and special regional opportunities.

In just a few weeks TMA Southeast Chapters Alabama, Atlanta, Carolinas, Florida and Tennessee will be host to the Southeast Regional Conference, an opportunity that this year will be held in Nashville, Tennessee.

And having had a TMA Annual in Nashville, we know that music city does it right and so will our Southeast chapters with a behind-the-scenes private tour of a real recording session with a CMA and ACM nominated recording star.

Education will cover important and timely topics on appraisals, lender liability, healthcare, and more, and of course, great connectivity will be had as our members learn together, connect, and bring great value to each in two days of TMA comradery mixed in with a bit of southern hospitality.

As the summer hits the homestretch in Saratoga, New York, the always popular TMA Northeast Regional Conference will take place.  A gathering rooted in tradition and hosted by the TMA Connecticut, Long Island, New York City, Northeast, and Upstate New York, this TMA opportunity always concludes with a day at the very special day at the Saratoga Race Track.

This late summer conference will feature a keynote on lessons in leadership by Lt. General Russel L. Honore and will offer education and great networking too.

Summertime is one of the best times to experience TMA in these unique and special ways.  It is a story of how vision and passion come together. It is how we showcase member value and tell our story of TMA Tomorrow.  It is what it means to be #bettertogether and #TMAPROUD.

As always, thanks for taking the time to listen today.  In that one connection that is you, your input is critical, your contributions paramount, and your engagement, the foundation that will create a better TMA for all of our members.
