Timothy is a Partner with Umlaut Inc., overseeing the Consulting business in the Americas. His areas of expertise include turnaround management, organizational development, risk management and cost reduction. He is based out of Umlaut‘s Detroit office.
Over the past decade Timothy has advised leading automotive organizations during periods of growth and expansion as well as crisis and transformation. As an operations turnaround consultant, he has led dozens of distressed suppliers out of crisis by deploying a hands-on, end to end approach to recovery.
As a thought leader, Timothy has published books and authored articles covering a range of emerging topics in the automotive industry. In 2015, Timothy was recognized by ALM Consulting Magazine for Excellence in Strategy Consulting. He holds a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Anna University.

He has represented many of the large automotive manufacturers around the globe with the Supply Risk Management efforts and has served these organizations with some of the largest distressed supplier cases. Bill has extensive relationships within the industry from OEMs to Tier 1s to lenders to private equity which he has utilized to solve problems and implement viable solutions. Bill has also worked with many minority firms to help them deal with the unique challenges facing this industry sector and is highly regarded as a reputable mentor.
Bill retired from leading the Automotive Restructuring and Performance Improvement Practice in the Detroit office of KPMG at the end of 2018. In 2014, Bill sold his independent consulting practice, BBK to KPMG where he was the CEO and majority equity holder. He is a senior financial executive with over thirty five years of professional experience in the manufacturing sector. He has “hands on” experience successfully operating companies at various “C” level positions as well as providing guidance via his consulting practice to a number of Fortune 100 companies. Bill’s experience has included acquisitions, mergers, divestitures, labor negotiations, turnarounds as well as various board positions. Bill has turnaround experience in North America, South America, Europe and China. .
After retirement from KPMG, Bill has been engaged by a number of international and US based companies to participate on their Board of Directors to utilize his experience, expertise and network to assist them in defining and achieving their strategic plans. Bill also is actively involved as an Advisor to the NA team of Umlaut. Additionally, Bill has been and continues to be engaged as an advisor to various companies such as private equity as well as other businesses to assist them with specific issues and their growth strategies. He is a Certified Turnaround Professional, a Certified Public Accountant (inactive), and holds a Masters in Business Administration.
Rachel L. Wolock Member Dickinson Wright PLLC
Ms. Wolock’s practice focuses on representing lenders from the beginning of the loan origination and documentation process through workout and bankruptcy in a wide range of industries including automotive, manufacturing, services, retail, transportation and logistics, leisure, and petroleum and petroleum distribution. Based in Detroit, she has significant experience representing lenders in automotive workouts. This includes extensive experience negotiating the usual and customary Accommodation Agreement and Access and Security Agreement entered into in automotive workouts, as well as structuring, negotiating, and documenting the other transactions required to get lenders repaid in automotive workouts. She also regularly counsels lenders in a range of loan transactions including asset-based credit facilities, single-bank middle market credit facilities, multibank credit facilities, participations, and intercreditor agreements.
