Please join us on Thursday, February 27, 2020, for "Litigation and Legal Intelligence: How It Works and How to Use It," presented by Dee Smith, CEO and Principal of Strategic Insight Group.

How can intelligence aid in the legal process and what role should it play? How does it differ from other kinds of research available to lawyers and their clients?

Dee Smith, who founded and for the last 25 years has headed the Texas-based private intelligence agency Strategic Insight Group (SIG), will give an insider's perspective on intelligence methodologies and specifically:

Intelligence in the legal/litigation arena
Intelligence on opposing litigants
Intelligence on opposing counsel
Fraud Investigation
Pre-litigation or post-litigation asset investigation

He will include examples of actual cases that he has led (without giving specific names) where intelligence findings have specifically benefited attorneys and their clients.

Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. for those who would like to arrive early and network, with lunch and the presentation starting at 12:00 p.m.

Dee Smith
CEO and Principal
Strategic Insight Group

Dee Smith is a CEO, producer, writer, and specialist in intelligence, foreign policy, and global change. He works professionally in the areas of transactional intelligence, geopolitical and change risk analysis, and media and cultural production. He has worked in over 100 countries and has served as an advisor for more than US $120 billion in investment transactions. He is founder, principal, and CEO of the private intelligence agency Strategic Insight Group (SIG), where he manages its global intelligence services for a client base of investors, law firms, and industrial concerns.

In addition to running his company, Smith is creator, executive producer, and host of the television documentary series “A World On the Brink with Dee Smith,” which premiered in October 2017 on Real Vision Television and was broadcast on PBS in over 40 media markets around the U.S. in 2018 and 2019. He currently hosts an ongoing television interview series on topics related to global change and geopolitical risk. He has also worked as an international venture capitalist active in Latin America and Europe, and before that, was a founder and president of InterCultura, an international NGO that worked with the U.S. Department of State and cultural ministries of multiple countries. With expertise and connections in intelligence, international business, investment, and international relations, he is associated with national think tanks and research institutions in the foreign policy arena.

Smith is a permanent member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in New York.





Event Cancellation Policy: 


Requests for refunds must be made in writing no later than 48 hours prior to the date of the event (e-mail is acceptable). No cancellations will be accepted within 48 hours of the event. Substitutions are allowed and must be submitted in writing (e-mail is acceptable). The substitute must be from the same firm as the original registrant and, if the substitute is not a TMA Member, the difference in registration fee will be required. Please note that if you register for the event after the cancellation deadline has passed, you will not be eligible for a refund should you need to cancel your registration. The cancellation policy applies to all registrants regardless of when the registration is submitted. Registrants who fail to attend the event and do not provide written notice in accordance with these policies and deadlines are responsible for full payment.
