John has 30 years of banking, financial management and consulting experience in a variety of industries. Since 2001 John has served as a turnaround/restructuring consultant starting at Conway MacKenzie in Detroit, MI. During his 10 plus years at Crowe Horwath, John lead over 75 restructuring engagements in the construction, food & commodity, financial service, distribution, automotive supply, oil & gas, stamping, precision machining, foundry, not-for-profit and retail industries and has restructured approximately $1.0 billion of senior secured financing for companies ranging from $10 million in annual sales to over $800 million throughout his career. In 2017 John founded Allied Business Advisors, LLC and leads a team of professionals dedicated to assisting privately held middle market companies in a wide variety of industries and circumstances solve complex problems and maximize value for all stakeholders.
Jon Yormick (Managing Attorney, Law Offices of Jon P. Yormick Co. LPA)
Jon is an experienced international business and trade attorney, practicing for more than 25 years. In his Customs & International Trade practice, Jon represents U.S. and non-U.S. companies before the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the U.S. Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, the U.S. Department of Treasury, Office of Foreign Assets Control, the U.S. International Trade Administration, the Canada Border Services Agency, and with colleagues in Mexico, the Servicio de Administración Tributaria on import and export laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
Sonja Johnson (Executive Director, Van Andel Global Trade Center)
As a licensed U.S. Customs Broker, Sonja specializes in global supply chain, Customs compliance issues and foreign-trade-zones. Her past work includes supporting international trade operations, global sales/customer service, supply chain with responsibilities for developing and overseeing global Customs compliance programs. Sonja has extensive experience in global trade, international consultant and trainer on a variety of subjects such as C-TPAT, EXIM, NAFTA, FTZ, export and import compliance and International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR).
