Joe Massaroni, Gordon Brothers, Director, Business Development, Southeast Region
Joe Massaroni is a Director, Business Development at Gordon Brothers responsible for developing and maintaining client relationships in the Southeast. Joe works closely with private equity and asset-based lending professionals in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Additionally, he assists clients in understanding valuation trends, changing methodologies, industry specific issues and the underlying value of their assets.
Joe has nearly 30 years of experience in commercial banking. Prior to joining Gordon Brothers, he was a director and team leader at Truist Bank, formerly SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, where he was responsible for managing key relationships and account commitments of more than $4 billion. Previously, he held senior leadership and development roles at New Star Business Credit, JMP Credit Advisors, Wells Fargo Capital Finance and Key Bank.
Joe earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Bryant University. He is a Series 79 and 63 licensed banker and is a board member and former president of The Secured Finance Network’s Atlanta chapter.
Melissa Van Nort, Managing Director, Tiger Group
Melissa Van Nort is based in Tiger’s Atlanta office, overseeing the company’s sales efforts in the southern and Texas markets. A well-known professional within the insolvency industry, Van Nort brings more than 15 years of brand marketing, corporate strategy and sales experience to Tiger.
Before joining Tiger, she was a Senior Vice President, Business Development at BMC Group, a leading global provider of financial, legal and corporate information management services for investment banks, private equity firms, government agencies and Fortune 1000 corporations. In that role, she worked extensively with companies in the restructuring industry.
From 2004 to 2010, she worked at WebMD, the online provider of health and medical information, most recently as National Director of Strategic Partnerships and Cause Marketing, where she focused on developing partnerships with major consumer packaged goods companies.
Prior to that, she served as Manager of Advertising Partnerships at IAC, Interactive Corp., a media and Internet company and as a Sales Development Assistant Manager at Fox News parent News Corp. Van Nort began her career with ESPN in 1998 as a Sales Planner/Analyst.
Van Nort earned a Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia University and is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Association for Corporate Growth and its affiliated Women’s Committee. She is also a member of the Turnaround Management Association Atlanta, as well as a board member of the Secured Finance Network’s Atlanta Chapter.
Mike Goldstein, Executive Managing Director, Head of Heritage Global Valuation at Heritage Global Valuations
MikeGoldstein, Executive Managing Director of Heritage Global Valuations, has nearly 20 years of appraisal and liquidation experience. Prior to joining Heritage Global Valuations in 2011, Mr. Goldstein was most recently employed by GoIndustry DoveBid* initially responsible for the management of the inventory appraisal group and subsequently responsible for new business development in the Eastern portion of the United States. He began his career with a prominent Northeastern appraisal and disposition firm where he was responsible for the management of the inventory appraisal department. In that role, Mr. Goldstein spearheaded the utilization of statistical modeling in inventory appraisals.
Mr. Goldstein has performed appraisal and liquidation work for many of the prominent financial institutions throughout North America and Europe. He has experience in a wide variety of industries including but not limited to: apparel, appliances, automotive, building products, carpet, catalog companies, chemicals, cigarettes, commodities, compost, computers, electronics, fasteners, floor coverings, food and beverage, footwear, furniture, HVAC, hardware, jewelry, leather, liquor, lighting, lumber, machine tools, medical devices, metals, paper, pharmaceuticals, plastics, plumbing, precious metals, refrigerants, retail inventories, semiconductors, sporting equipment, telecommunications, textiles, tobacco, vending machines, and wire & cable.
He holds an MBA from Hofstra University and a Bachelors of Arts degree from Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Goldstein is a member of the Turnaround Management Association and is involved with the Association for Corporate Growth and Commercial Finance Association.
Nick Payne, Executive Managing Director, Siena Lending Group
Nick Payne is a Managing Director with Siena Lending Group, where he has spent the last 8 years originating, structuring, and closing asset-based loans. In his current role, he is responsible for managing a team of originators and developing new business. He launched the Chicago office in 2015 and is currently operating to establish Siena’s presence throughout the Southeast. When he’s not working, Nick serves on several non-profit and for-profit boards and enjoys spending time with his family on the water or trying a new restaurant.
