Ken Yager, Founder & President, Newpoint Advisors Corporation

Ken is the founder and President of Newpoint Advisors and has 25 years of executive leadership experience in stakeholder communication. He has worked with clients in a variety of industries in over 150 engagements. Ken regularly takes on profit and loss and risk-management responsibility for cash-constrained companies in growth, leveraged-buyout and turnaround situations. He also has successfully worked on implementing hundreds of initiatives involving, operations and project management, team building, marketing, and sales and joint-venture management. He is a fierce advocate for capital preservation and saving jobs.

 

A. Kumar Singla, Managing Principal, Valley Forge Capital Advisors

Kumar Singla is Founder and Managing Principal of Valley Forge Capital Advisors which focuses on expedited investment banking solutions for small to mid-sized stressed and distressed companies in a variety of capacities – M&A, capital raising, and corporate restructurings.

Mr. Singla’s experience with distressed companies crosses a wide variety of industries and special situations.  Mr. Singla was previously an investment banker in New York and held roles in corporate M&A, valuation advisory, private equity, and management consulting.

Mr. Singla is a graduate of Georgetown University and received his M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.  He resides in Florida with his wife and four children.

 

Chris Collins, Sr. Regional Vice President, Southeast Region, LSQ

Chris Collins, Sr Regional Vice President is responsible for business development with LSQ Funding providing working capital facilities up to $100MM covering the Southeastern United States for the past nine years. Mr. Collins has over 30 years of diversified finance industry experience including management and business development positions with leading national commercial asset based lenders. His expertise is in lending, turn-around management, capital restructuring, consulting, and portfolio management for medium sized business.

Mr. Collins is a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Sciences in Business Administration with a degree in Finance.  He is an active member in Florida and Georgia Chapters of Turnaround Management Association (TMA), Association for Corporate Growth (ACG), Secured Finance Network (SFNet), and Risk Management Association (RMA).

 

Steve Stagg, Partner, EROC Advisor

Steve has over 25 years of financial services and real estate experience advising CFOs, CEOs and business owners on cash management, capital structure, valuation, industry trends, financial forecasting, succession planning, and other strategic alternatives.

He was most recently Tampa Bay Market President for Beach Bank, where he led the bank’s successful de novo expansion in Tampa, generating over $175MM in loan commitments and $125MM in core deposits in less than 3 years.

Prior to Beach, Steve was Commercial Bank Executive – West Florida Region and Tampa Market Executive for Regions Bank, generating over $1BB in loan commitments in middle market M&A, private equity and traditional middle market financings from 2013-2018. Criticized assets declined from over 28% of portfolio to below 2% during his tenure.

Previously, he was the CFO for Harrod Properties and President of Florida Bank.  He also has experience in M&A investment banking and private wealth management with predecessors to Wells Fargo and Bank of America. 

 

Jason Alpert, Senior Vice President, Wells Fargo

Jason Alpert, Senior Vice President, leads Wells Fargo’s workout group for wholesale banking relationships in Florida. Jason’s team of lenders services a portfolio of high-risk and distressed commercial relationships, restructuring and resolving problem loans in a mutually beneficial manner. Additionally, Jason leads the Bank’s national portfolio sale team, effectuating the strategy of selling commercial distressed debt in the secondary market. Jason is highly decorated Banker at Wells Fargo, having been awarded both the bank’s Golden Spoke and Pinnacle Awards. 

Jason is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Tampa teaching “Introduction to Global Business” and was named “Most Outstanding Part-Time Faculty Member” in 2022. Jason’s most rewarding work his is work with various non-profits, including leading the turnaround of a local Title-1 charter school servicing a low-income population. Jason serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Risk Management Association Journal and the West Florida RMA Chapter.  Jason has been published multiple times in the RMA Journal and won Credit Risk Article of the Year in 2018. He is also a Judge in the University of Florida’s annual Next Big Idea Business Case Competition and was recently named a “40 under 40” honoree in the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

 

Toni Walker, Head of Asset Management – RE Private Credit US and NZ, Arena Investors

Ms. Walker is Head of Asset Management – RE Private Credit US and NZ.  With more than 25 years of experience in the Commercial Real Estate Finance industry, her expertise includes management of complex commercial loans collateralized by CRE and performance to optimize solutions through loan restructuring, enforcement, stabilization of underlying real estate and recovery for the Firm.

Toni was previously a Senior Manager-Head of U.S. with the Mount Street Group and prior positions with CW Financial Services, Trimont Real Estate Advisors and Ocwen Financial.  Her career highlights include facilitating the sale of the wind-down residual bank known as WestLB, which included the acquisition by Mount Street of the teams managing $30B AUM for a German-bank board.

Ms. Walker holds a BS degree in Business from University of Kansas, as well as other certifications and memberships in the Commercial Real Estate Finance industry.  

Attendance in this session confers 1.8 CPE credits in Economics. The program level is Basic and there are no prerequisites to attend.
