Months of thoughtful planning and diligent effort by volunteers and TMA Global staff are about to pay enormous dividends with The 2019 TMA Annual, September 25-27, at the Hilton Cleveland Downtown. Featuring outstanding education sessions and a variety of social events intended to help you build and strengthen relationships that lead to meaningful networking and business opportunities, this year’s Annual is sure to rock the house!
Our conference co-chairs—Sally Barton of KeyBank, Eric Goldberg of DLA Piper, and Allen Kadish of Archer & Greiner P.C.—and their planning committee have done a terrific job of putting together high-quality, relevant education sessions. The Opening Program is “Mega Trends in the Economy,” followed later by sessions on “Finding Your Firm’s Next Rockstar” and “Crisis Communications,” and a choice between breakout sessions on “Turnaround Strategy in Sexual Abuse-Related Restructuring Cases” or “Multilateral Negotiations,” and between “ABCs vs. Bankruptcies vs. Article 9 vs. Receiverships” or “Music, Entertainment, and IP.”
The conference keynote speaker is Dr. Dambisa Moyo, a global economist and author of four New York Times bestselling books who is also known for her insightful TED Talks. Dr. Moyo will offer her views on the macroeconomy and global affairs.
Twelve teams of professionals will be recognized with Turnaround of the Year and Transaction of the Year Awards during the Closing Reception at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for their work on behalf of nonprofit, small, midsize, large, mega, and international companies. The honorees were selected from among more than 100 turnaround and transaction nominations vying for the awards.
Earlier during the conference, at the Keynote Luncheon, Carl S. Lane, CTP, of Willow Tree Consulting Group LLC and Harold D. Israel of Levenfeld Pearlstein LLC will be honored with Outstanding Individual Contribution Awards for their significant involvement and support for TMA over a sustained period of time. In addition, Sydney J. Darling of Walsh Pizzi O’Reilly Falanga LLP and Kathleen Parker of HYPERAMS will receive Emerging Leader Awards recognizing their involvement and dedication to TMA. Bankruptcy Judge James J. Tancredi of the District of Connecticut will receive the Chapter Impact Award for his outstanding leadership and service to the TMA Connecticut Chapter.
As I mentioned earlier, our Final Countdown Closing Reception, sponsored by Ritchie Bros., is at the legendary Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. We have rented the entire space, so attendees can network while browsing multiple floors of exhibits honoring some of the world’s best musicians. But attendees are also encouraged to sign up for additional networking activities. Whether you’re looking to try one of Cleveland’s best food tours, compete in the golf scramble at Canterbury Golf Course, or mingle with our TMA NOW members and bankruptcy judges, or our TMA NextGen members, there’s an activity for you.
Much critical thought and effort have gone into making this Annual an exceptional member value and a truly memorable experience for all attendees. The event features meaningful educational programming and high-quality networking events that will help our members learn and grow professionally while building professional and personal relationships that lead to significant business opportunities. I believe the Conference Planning Committee has set a high standard for future TMA Global conferences, and I would like to personally thank them for all of their hard work.
