As summer began, I had the distinct honor and privilege to see TMA members from 18 different countries connecting with one another at June’s inaugural International Symposium and Annual European Conference, held in Hamburg, Germany. I can say without reservation that there was an energy and excitement from speakers, attendees, and planning committee members unlike anything I have seen before. Planning the inaugural International Symposium took years. Like most things, you get out what you put in—and this conference was no exception. I am proud of this bold, forward-thinking event, which offered attendees a global view of the international restructuring, turnaround, and corporate health industry. It was a defining moment for TMA in bringing members together internationally.
The International Symposium’s success highlights the growth of our global organization, which continues to strengthen thanks to the engagement from our members and leadership around the world, all a part of TMA’s Big Tent initiative. The environment at the International Symposium—with its more than 200 attendees, some who were meeting for the first time, others of whom were reconnecting—was nothing short of electric, serving as a fitting springboard for the rest of this year.
TMA is celebrating its 35th anniversary throughout 2023, and there is much more excitement ahead to mark this milestone. During the upcoming TMA Annual Conference, being held October 3-6 in San Francisco, we will mark this momentous occasion with all that members have come to expect from TMA conferences. There will be a robust menu of educational opportunities, with credit offerings, as well as relevant and timely content, along with chances for connectivity and networking galore. At The Annual, we will induct a new Hall of Fame class of industry luminaries, those who have forged a path for all of us to follow. We look forward to honoring those individuals whose contributions have increased the stature and respect of our industry—one that is dedicated to stabilizing underperforming companies, rebuilding corporate value, and retaining jobs. I look forward to connecting with you in the City by the Bay in the fall.
These and all the other opportunities from TMA encourage member engagement and showcase the best of who we are at TMA. I am proud and excited to be a part of this organization and “something bigger.”
Enjoy the summer, recharge, and be ready for a fall that will be one to remember for both TMA and its members.
Stay safe, be well, and remain #TMAProud.
