We Get What We Give

As Global Crisis Unfolds, TMA Membership Is a Necessity

As we celebrate April as National Volunteer Month, I want to take a moment to celebrate the motivating visionaries of TMA who keep our actionable organization vital and vibrant.

From the global executive board, board of trustees, chapter leaders, and our newest members, the symbiotic relationship that reverberates throughout our defining organization cannot be underscored. We thrive because we are alive with volunteers who truly care through passion and vision.

Energy begets energy, and through and through, there is a vibrancy among our volunteer members and leaders that both enhances the value of being a part of TMA and excites through the newness of opportunities that are generated daily systemwide.

I have been most fortunate to witness, experience, and be part of the vision and passion our volunteer leaders contribute to TMA at the local, regional, global, and international levels.

Sitting with chapter boards, I see a collective of leaders who scrutinize what they have achieved and what they can make better, stronger, and more defining for our members. Whether that be an honest assessment of governance challenges or the celebration of TMA NOW and NextGen members, our volunteers are always creating the next level of opportunity for our members worldwide through the giving of time and effort.

We are blessed with those who create, support, and enhance regional experiences to bring together our members in elevated ways, whether through education, pure networking, or the combination of actionable optionality that makes TMA thrive.

And each year, what works regionally gets better. Seeing chapters come together in new and exciting ways makes regional volunteerism something that continues to morph as TMA thrives.

Our leaders are creators, mentors, and friends. Your volunteerism is the example of personal and professional excellence that resonates—and in that, our volunteers challenge themselves and each other, year in and year out, to raise the bar on member value.

Our lead global committees set the tone for excellence systemwide and prepare our organization for a future we can count on always being able to thrive.

I am personally #TMAProud and truly inspired by the selflessness of our volunteers and how proud they stand for what it means to be #bettertogether in the TMA Big Tent.

Winston Churchill said, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

This National Volunteer Month, I thank you and celebrate you for an unwavering dedication and invaluable contributions to TMA. It is why, today and for a long time to come, we will remain the gold standard in association excellence and continue to show how #TMALightsTheWay.
