CEO Speaks 04.22.23

Happy Saturday and welcome to CEO Speaks for Saturday, April 22, 2023.

Nothing is more demonstrative of our theme for the year, You Are Part of Something Bigger, than the internationalism of our organization. With 23 international chapters representing virtually every continent in the world, the brand power and awareness of what TMA represents cannot be understated.

All one needs to do to understand our global reach is to look to the committee of international leaders who continue to define how we serve the most professionally diverse group of professionals all over the world. The committee is led by Vlad Nastase , EMBA, CTP, Concilium Consulting, in his second year as TMA Global VP-International. He is a former TMA Romania president whose chapter won the International Chapter of the Year award in 2021. Vlad exemplifies leadership and commitment which supports why TMA continues to grow internationally.

This year, the TMA Global International Committee boasts representation from Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Mexico, Nigeria, Romania, Serbia, South Africa, Sweden, Turkey, and the United States, a testament to the brand power and reach of TMA. This committee will continue to lead the charge on connectivity around the world and will partner with our international chapters to elevate global support, as well as to be more involved in global education, certification support, and our International Symposium.

For the first time in our history, the TMA Global Nominations Committee will include an international representative, Eva Ringelspacher, Mitglied der Geschäftsleitung bei Dr. Wieselhuber & Partner GmbH, and, as we continue to refine our strategic plan, we will look to expand the involvement of international leaders on the TMA Global Executive Board and Board of Trustees.

This spring, an idea three years in the making will come to life as we launch our inaugural TMA Global International Symposium, which will be held in Hamburg, Germany, on June 21 in connection with the TMA Annual European Conference the following day. At that moment, a TMA dream will become reality, what it means to be a part of something bigger will be reinforced, the importance of our International Committee and the efforts its members advance to ensure the highest level of connectivity and engagement will be demonstrated, and the story of how our big tent continues to flourish will add another chapter to the story that is TMA Tomorrow.

This first-time conference will boast a delegation of 15 North American leaders, including Global President Jim Van Horn, Barnes & Thornburg LLPGlobal Chair Janey Mitnick SM Financial Services Corporation, Global Immediate Past Chair Matthew English, CTPArch + Beam, as well as four past TMA Global chairs: Milly Chow, Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP; David F.W. Cohen, Gowling WLG Canada; Kevin A. Krakora, CTPGetzler Henrich; and Jeffery C. Hampton, Saul Ewing, all of whom were instrumental in advancing efforts to grow, define, and support our international footprint.

On the horizon are chapters in formation in Colombia, India, and Slovakia, and there is interest from professionals in Greece, Hungary, and Poland to bring TMA to their nations as we expand our dominant restructuring presence in the EU.

We swell with pride as we partner with our international members and leaders to elevate what it means to be a part of TMA. We define professional support through our vast worldwide network and build professional and personal relationships that make us shine.

The future of TMA worldwide is bright. The efforts of our leaders from North and South America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Japan, and Australia demonstrate how the people behind the power that is TMA keep us actionable, viable, and vibrant all over the world.

As we celebrate TMA’s 35th anniversary, we look back on the humble beginnings of an organization that now boasts the most robust worldwide presence in the corporate restructuring, reorganization, and corporate health space, with much more to come.

As I conclude this edition of CEO Speaks, with connectivity being so important to TMA, I wanted to share that I am now taking that connection one step further, and am pleased to announce that CEO Speaks will now be available as a video. We will share each episode on TMA social media, turnaround.org/CEO-speaks, and in the TMA Weekly and Monthly International Reports. CEO Speaks will still be available in audio format on Soundcloud, Spotify, and all of your favorite podcast apps as well. This will be another way you can enjoy the podcast, be  a part of something bigger,

and experience all of TMA Nation with me.

As always, thanks for taking the time to listen today. In the one connection that is you, your input is critical, your contributions paramount, and your engagement is the foundation that will create a better TMA for all of our members.

Until next time, I’m Scott Stuart.  Be safe, resilient, and #TMAProud.
