As a global organization, TMA truly believes that we are better together. We believe in the power of standing together, united against oppression and violence. As such, TMA stands with the people of Ukraine, with our European neighbors who have not seen a security crisis of this magnitude since World War II, and with everyone across the globe who is worried for their friends and families as this violence continues to escalate.
While we continue to hope for peace, we wanted to share some information on a few of the organizations that are supporting the people of Ukraine.
Global Empowerment Mission
The Global Empowerment Mission is working to relocate thousands of women and children. Unfortunately, due to the latest Ukraine Government Decree, all men from 18 to 65 cannot leave Ukraine due to a military draft. The organization has established a welcome center in Medyka, Poland/Ukraine border. Evacuees will be able to choose a country where they have family or friends that can take them in. The organization’s Bstrong fund will be used for booking and paying for flights and trains immediately so people have a place to go.
Save the Children, Ukraine
Save the Children has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, including in the conflict-impacted regions of Donetsk and Luhansk.
This includes supporting access to education, providing psychosocial support, distributing winter kits and hygiene kits, and providing cash grants to families so they can meet basic needs such as food, rent and medicines, or so they can invest in starting new businesses.
World Central Kitchen (WCK)
WCK is serving thousands of fresh meals to Ukrainian families fleeing home as well as residents who remain in the country. Working at a 24-hour pedestrian border crossing in southern Poland, WCK began serving hot, nourishing meals within hours of the initial invasion and are now set up at multiple border crossings across the country. WCK believes that food relief is not just a meal that keeps hunger away. It’s a plate of hope. It tells you in your darkest hour that someone, somewhere, cares about you.
Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund
All donations to the Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund will support humanitarian assistance in impacted communities in Ukraine and surrounding regions where Ukrainian refugees have fled. Donations are used to provide refugees with shelter, food, clean water, health and psychosocial support, and access to education and economic assistance.
We will continue to stand with our friends and colleagues in Europe and hope that very soon, a positive end to this period of severe instability will come to an end.
