Partners Ira Herman, Rick Antonoff, and counsel Evan Zucker of Blank Rome appeared on numerous panels since our last publication --
On August 26, 2021, Herman spoke at the American Bankruptcy Institute (“ABI”) 2021 Southwest Bankruptcy Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ira’s session, “COVID-19: Infecting Employment Issues in Bankruptcy,” covered the WARN Act, KERPs and KEIPs, vacation/sick time and the § 507(a)(4) cap, varying state laws on severance claims that are driving the locations of filings, and more.
On September 14, 2021, Antonoff served as a panelist for the American Bar Association (“ABA”) Business Law Section webinar, “International Financing of FinTechs: Leveraging IP from Seed, to Growth and Beyond.” The panel discussed significant legal issues arising in financing FinTech companies in the United States, Canada, and Asia, providing a general overview of the growing financial technology market, and sharing insights on key legal issues arising when financing intellectual property of FinTechs in different jurisdictions and related bankruptcy concerns.
On October 6, 2021, Herman co-presented “Bankruptcy and Secured Creditor Priority: Identifying, Resolving, or Avoiding Hidden and Springing Liens,” a live 90-minute Strafford CLE webinar with interactive Q&A, offering best strategies for establishing a rigorous methodology for identifying and resolving hidden and springing liens encumbering their collateral. The program reviewed types of hidden and springing liens, Bankruptcy Code provisions that allow post-petition perfection and priming of liens.
